This is a Contract to the agreement of ownership that you must sign and return prior to your puppy being placed in your possession.

Deposit and Hold:
You have read, understood, and agreed to our deposit and hold policy described as follows:
Owner is making a non-refundable (unless one of the following conditions listed below occurs) and/or transferable deposit in the amount of $250 to reserve a puppy. Once the deposit is received along with the Contract of Ownership, Finley River Retrievers (FRR) is bound by this contract to reserve a puppy solely for Owner except upon unavailability due to death, health concerns of the puppy, FRR has concerns of the care the puppy will be given upon Owner taking possession, or FRR has not received payment in full by the time the puppy has reached eight (8) weeks of age or the time of pickup. If for any reason the Owner decides they no longer wish to take possession of the puppy, except for those reasons listed below in the refund and/or transfer conditions, the deposit will not be refunded to the Owner, and if after the puppy has reached eight (8) weeks of age the Owner has not paid in full, FRR is no longer bound by this contract to reserve the puppy or any other puppy for the Owner.

​Refund Conditions- This deposit is refundable upon one of the following conditions:

• Litter is not conceived
• Unavailability due to health concerns, or death prior to Owner's possession

Transfer Conditions- This deposit is transferable to a future litter upon one of the following conditions:

• Unavailability of puppy due to health concerns, or death prior to the Owner's possession of the above described puppy.
• Unavailability of puppy due to gender or color preference specified above in this agreement.
• Personal issues arise and Owner cannot take the puppy at the specified (8) weeks of age. FRR does not want the Owner to take possession of a puppy they cannot care for in fear of losing their deposit. At this time, FRR is no longer bound by this contract to keep the specified puppy reserved and the puppy will be sold to another interested buyer.

Deposits are not a requirement until the puppies are born. Basically, take the deposit seriously and do not expect a refund unless there is an issue with the health or unavailability of the puppy.
ONLY deposits (and the optional $200 extra for 1st pick) may be made prior to the puppy's birth. We DO NOT accept any other forms of payment until the puppies are born and Owner has one reserved by deposit.

Picking Order: The picking order goes in the order deposits are received. FRR allows people to begin choosing their puppy at 5 weeks of age beginning with the first deposit received. FRR will contact Owner with time suggestions to do so and visits to FRR can be made or pictures and videos of available puppies can be sent to Owner. A $200 additional fee can be made to reserve rights to first pick male and first pick female.

Payment Methods: Owner has the choice of making payment(s) with PayPal (Friends & Family option OR expect a 3% additional fee), personal check, Venmo, certified money order, or cash.

• If payment is being made by cash, Venmo, or PayPal, the total remaining balance can be paid on the day the Owner takes possession of the puppy.
• If payment is made by PayPal, you must use the FRIENDS & FAMILY option or expect a 3% fee added to the balance. NO disputes are settled through PayPal.
• If payment is being made by personal check or certified money order, the total remaining balance is due ten (10) business days prior to Owner taking possession of the puppy and the check must have cleared FRR's bank forty-eight (48) hours prior to the date the Owner takes possession.
• FRR does NOT accept personal checks on the day the Owner takes possession of the puppy.

Optional additional charges on top of the price of the puppy:

• $2,000 (again… “optional”…this is NOT the price of a puppy sold without breeding rights) is the total price (deposit included in that price) to receive a puppy with FULL AKC registration meaning the Owner has breeding rights to this puppy or may show the puppy in Conformation Events. Other prices originally quoted are for a puppy with AKC LIMITED registration papers.
• $10 per day boarding fee beginning at the age of nine (9) weeks if the Owner does not or cannot take possession of the puppy once the puppy has reached eight (8) weeks of age unless FRR is unavailable during this eighth week to meet the Owner and transfer the puppy
• Delivery charges may apply to transfer the puppy to the Owner. This includes but is not limited to Kansas City, St. Louis, or Tulsa ($250). The delivery cost depends on the distance FRR must travel. Delivering to Springfield, MO, Marshfield, MO, or Mansfield, MO is no additional charge.
• $200 additional to reserve the pick of males or females in a specified litter

Transfer: FRR agrees to execute and deliver to the Owner the American Kennel Club (AKC) registration paperwork conveying ownership of the above described puppy to the Owner upon the following:

• the puppy is purebred and registered with the AKC
• FRR has received full payment of balance due from Owner, funds have cleared FRR's bank or payment is cash.
• Owner agrees that they are not acting as an agent in the purchase of the above described puppy and that this puppy will reside at the home of the Owner and will be provided with proper housing, diet, care, and exercise.
• FRR and Owner have read, understood, agreed, and signed the Contract of Ownership for the above described puppy.
• Owner understands and agrees that they assume all responsibility for the above described puppy from the time the Owner takes possession
• Owner understands and agrees that under NO circumstances will the above described puppy be sold, given away, traded, leased, or donated to any pet shop, humane society, research laboratory, or any similar facility.
• Owner agrees that if rehoming the described puppy is necessary, to contact FRR in doing so

Health Guarantee: Finley River Retrievers strives to provide healthy puppies to our customers while maintaining a good relationship throughout the life of the dog. The puppy will be released to the Owner to take possession after it has been seen by a veterinarian and given a clean bill of health or instructions on medication or care of a minor condition the Owner has agreed to take on. The veterinarian will perform a fecal exam and any forms of parasites or worms will be treated upon transfer of the puppy. However, parasites and worms are common in puppies and can be brought about by stress. FRR will notify the Owner of any issues the veterinarian has noticed (such as a heart murmur, undescended testicle, hernia, etc.) before the Owner takes possession of the puppy. The Owner’s puppy will have a one (1) year health guarantee for any genetic health issues that should arise. This includes anything the puppy could have possibly been born with and NOT something the puppy contracted while in the Owner’s care (this includes but it not limited to parvovirus, distemper, coccidia, giardia, or other forms of worms or parasites), or an accident that occurs after the Owner takes possession of the puppy. The puppy will be given all age appropriate vaccines (rabies vaccine cannot be given until around 12 weeks) and dewormer while in FRR’s care. However, the puppy will not be fully vaccinated until it has been given a series of vaccines by the age of around 16 weeks. Taking your puppy to public places or around other dogs before then will be at the Owner’s risk. FRR offers information and encourages all buyers to give their puppy NuVet supplements to boost immunity and maintain healthy hips and joints. Hip dysplasia is not covered due to the fact that FRR cannot control the puppy’s environment or diet. Each unlikely circumstance to be considered for the One (1) Year Health Guarantee could be different so the plan of action may not always be the same. The following are plans of action that could take place:

• After reviewing the circumstance with FRR’s veterinarian as well as the Owner’s veterinarian regarding the condition or cause of death of the puppy, a refund, may be discussed. Travel expenses are non refundable.
• After reviewing the circumstance with FRR’s veterinarian as well as the Owner’s veterinarian on the condition or cause of death of the puppy, a replacement puppy may be provided from a future litter. Travel expenses will apply if needed.
• After reviewing the circumstance with FRR’s veterinarian as well as the Owner’s veterinarian on the condition of the puppy, a plan of action regarding some veterinary or medication expenses only toward said condition may be discussed.

Bringing pets to meet the new puppy:

• Because of carefully monitoring our farm and facilities against unwelcome parasites, viruses, diseases, etc. FRR does not allow Owner’s dogs or other pets to be let out on our property. The Owner understands the detrimental risks this imposes on a litter of puppies. Please keep other pets in the car or at home.
• FRR is not responsible for any injury or illness that could occur if the Owner brings a pet to the property.
